      Attorney Toni Barston has been assigned to prosecute a serial killer - one who has already confessed to the crimes and agreed to plead guilty in exchange for life without parole. But then a mistake at the city jail allows the killer to walk free and the killing of prominent women in the city begins again.

    After the brutal murder of someone closely involved in the case, Toni's supervisor assigns an investigator to protect her. Soon both women are struggling to remain professional as the search for the killer intensifies. Will the killer be caught before Toni becomes his next target?

    Toni Barston returns as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Fairfield. After a truck driver nearly hits her and a bigoted judge throws her case out of court, it is no secret she is angry. But when both men are murdered and Toni has no alibi, she goes from attorney to a main suspect. To complicate matters, Toni finds herself attracted to the F.B.I. agent investigating the case. Toni's girlfriend, Boggs, and their friends try to help, but even they have their doubts when another man is killed shortly after Toni expresses her dislike of his behavior.

     As Toni and her friends desperately try to clear her name, some of the suspects become allies and allies become suspects. Toni will need to dig deep into her past to use all of her skills to solve this case and come out of it alive.
